GSM Project - Railway Crossing Gate Control

Railway level crossing gate will have motor. This motor can be operated through a microcontroller. Instruction will be given by engine driver through GSM Mill Call.

ABSTRACT:


This  project can control the railway gate through sms.
For sending sms, gsm modem is used.

Whenever a railway gate is open or closed message is sent to the station master which is done  by interfacing between a programmable microcontroller of family 8051 and GSM modem is done by a voltage level shifter called IC MAX232 which used a serial communication. the micro controller sends an interrupt to make active for the motor to gate open /close with help of Motor driver called L293D that controls the motion or rotation of motor mounted at railway level crossing gate with display. The desired number is auto saved on the microcontroller over a missed  call.
The power supply consists of a step down transformer 230/12V, which steps down the voltage to 12V AC. This is converted to DC using a Bridge rectifier and it is then regulated to +5V using a voltage regulator 7805 which is required for the operation of the microcontroller and other components.

Microcontroller (AT89C52/S52), GSM modems, Crystal Oscillator, Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes, Transformer, Regulator, LED, Max232, DC Motor, Motor Driver IC.

 Keil compiler
 Languages: Embedded C or Assembly.
